British ministers will meet on Monday to discuss Brexit legislation as the UK prepares for a crucial showdown with the European Union over the terms of Britain’s departure.
The European Parliament and the UK’s three other national parliaments are expected to debate the Government’s Brexit bill, which sets out how it will leave the bloc and how it wants to keep Britain in the bloc.
The bill is a critical piece of Brexit legislation, with its main objective being to allow the UK to keep EU laws without the UK having to invoke the bloc’s divorce procedure.
But it is also likely to face a backlash from pro-EU MPs, who are likely to insist on a deal that is “meaningful” and not overly ambitious.
The debate comes ahead of a parliamentary session on Monday, which will begin with an hour-long debate on Brexit.
