Pune: A government employee at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Pune, who had quit earlier this month, has left the agency with a “substantial” salary cut of Rs. 8 lakh per month.

According to an email sent by the CBI office in Pampore, the employee had been working as a senior analyst and had been earning Rs. 6.85 lakh per year, while in the previous month he had earned Rs. 9.5 lakh.

The email, which was forwarded to The Times on Monday, said that the employee, who was not identified, had left the CBI in February last year.

It added that the salary cut was being done “to facilitate him to further his studies and to further consolidate his work in Panchayati Raj.”

The employee’s salary cut came in the wake of the agency’s closure in February this year, and the government had ordered a recruitment freeze for employees of the CBI.
